DNS, DNF or Wing It?
So my don’t do any running prior to lining up for a half marathon “training plan” is going well, although I have become one of those “weird runner types” that looks at other people running along the road with envy .. honestly? Who the F am I these days?!?!
What’s worse is that it hasn’t even been a week since I last ran and I already find myself constantly doing this ..
I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t worried about trying to “run” 21 kilometers this Sunday, especially due to the fact that on Saturday I turned (you know as is kind of normal practice for a human) and I got a sharp shooting pain in my right knee.
On one hand I’m desperate to give at least a run/walk session a go prior to this weekend’s event, but then I think the extra few days off would be more beneficial which then leads me onto thinking should I switch to a shorter distance OR just flag running all together until the knee pain is sorted?
I mean at what point do you know if your just being pig headed and stupid to even attempt running or copping out if you don’t?
At this stage, my preference is to take the Cruiser Start option for the Half Marathon and just see how my knee holds out because I’d rather not finish than not start – that just seems like giving up, although it is a women’s prerogative to change her mind, so we’ll just have to wait and see. 😉
Till next time
