FINDING MY MOJO
Road to Routeburn – Week 6/37
I started running six months ago and decided that I’d like to complete the Routeburn Classic about three months into my running journey.
Since then I’ve been diligent with my training – but I’ll be honest, it’s felt like I take two steps forward and then one step back. I’ve been injured (twice) then picked up the flu (which seems to be hanging on for dear life) and although I can always find something positive to cling onto whenever I’ve finished a training session, there were days I couldn’t help but wonder, if I was going to get back to how I was before the set backs, let alone improve.
This week however, I’ve felt my mojo is coming back! I can breathe easier, I’m managing to run for longer before having to walk and I’ve even run a few hills that I haven’t managed in a number of weeks, so things are starting to look “less grey” which is lucky as the Merrell Race Tekapo is only a couple of weeks away.
James is slaying (as always) knocking out a 35km run today (which is over the 32km distance he is doing in Tekapo). My longest run is next week and ideally I’d like to get close to 16km as that is the distance I’ve signed up for in Tekapo and I haven’t run that far to date. I have however done 14km recently, so I’m pretty sure I’d be fine but it would be nice to actually have done the distance prior to event day.
Anyway – another week closer to Routeburn.
Am I ready? Not a chance in hell .. but I guess I’m one better than I was last week so I’m getting there. 😉
Till next time
Weekly mileage 31.34km
