Since I’ve taken up Ludus I have been asked numerous times if I am a crossfitter. Well the simple answer would be no.
From what I can gather Ludus and Crossfit are similar but there are a couple of differences that jump out at me.
Ludus disciples are taught to do exercises with control, for example we do conventional pullups where Crossfit to kippling pullups, they swing the kettlebell over their head and we go to shoulder height.
Crossfitters tend to do Olympic Style lifting with bars and plates. You won’t see any weights in the Ludus Arena other than kettlebells.
Other than that, I think the philosophies are the same. They both train people for life. Actually living life, its not sport specific and every workout can be done by all levels of fitness, both sexes and all ages.
Real “crossfitters” please correct me if I am wrong, because I have never done a crossfit session, so I am only going on what I have read and seen.
I will say that Crossfitters/Ludians have AMAZING bodies, they tend to be smaller than bodybuilders and have that real athletic physique that I just adore! Which brings me to todays recipient of a the wolf whistle …
Steve Willis is not only “The Commando” on the Australian Biggest Loser, but he is also the Australasian Regional Crossfit Champion from 2009 and he even placed 4th in the World Crossfit Games!
If he is an advertisement for training for life what are you all waiting for 😉
Till next time
