The other day a group of my friends were having a discussion on what their New Years Resolutions were for 2012.
There were the usual – lose weight, eat healthier, exercise more, which for me is not so much of a new thing. I decided that mine was to be appreciative of my life, my kids, my health and to not sweat the small stuff so much.
So that was my resolution for the year – but my goals?
In 2011 I had 11 “goals” and I completed 8 of them (the other three have moved onto my bucket list).
This year I shall develop tunnel vision because I only have ONE major goal and a couple of “minor ones” to cross off on the way ..
Let’s start off with the minor ones;
Complete my first sprint distance triathlon – 500m swim, 20k bike, 5k run.
The aim is to do the last race in the Panasonic People Tri Series being held at Mission Bay on Sunday 22nd April 2012. It’s dependent on whether my swim coach thinks I will be ready since it’s an open water swim (beginner tri’s get you to swim parallel to the beach any distance greater than that swims a circuit) so I guess I just have to practise, practise and practise some more.
Complete my first half marathon. This is obviously a “big step” for the self proclaimed runner hater .. but needs must and all that 😉
Oh and as a side note, the twins are actually “nice” to run with – I don’t even notice they are there most of the time!
My big, huge, audacious goal? To get one of these …
Yep – I will complete the Taupo Half Ironman in December 2012 …
What’s involved? A “leisurely” day out swimming 2k’s, biking 90k’s and then to end the day I’ll run a half marathon. Simple 😉
Can I do it? Well if it was tomorrow I would say no. 12 months from now? Barring anything “unforeseen” happening like my leg falling off – Definitely.
Do I have any idea of how to get there?
Honestly? No not yet .. but I’ve got “Team Julia” behind me so I guess I just do as I’m told and I’ll be ok.
