Things I’d forgotten about running
I hadn’t run regularly since losing my job. Instead I choose to spend the time looking for a job, selling anything that wasn’t attached to the house and punishing myself by deciding that because I was poor and had no job that I couldn’t go trail running (because gas costs money) so I’d have to run along the road (because that would be free).
So it goes without saying after getting a new job and returning to the trail, I woke up the next morning really REALLY sore! In fact I ached in places I’d forgotten even get used when you run! I knew I’d have sore knees (because I’m old and that’s just my life) but I was still very surprised at how tight my hips were.
So, what else does a runner do when they wake up uber sore? Go to YouTube and search “Yoga for sore muscles” obviously. š
Below is the practice I chose to do ..
In do however have a few “morning after” yoga routines on my saved list, my top 3 being;
1. Runner’s Yoga – Yoga with Adrienne
This is probably what you would call my “go too”, it’s relatively short (I often do it after a workout) and it’s not too intense.
2. Yin Yoga for Runners – Yoga with Kassandra
This one (especially the long held lizard pose) can be quite confronting (in other words it’s definitely not relaxing) š
3. Runner’s Yoga – Yoga with Tim
This one is perhaps the least yogaish of the three, I find it to be more along the lines of your usual post wod stretch that you’d do after any group exercise session – which is great when you’re not in a very yogic mood. š
I wonder what runners did before YouTube? Hobbled around for days I guess .. š
Till next time
