The week I climbed more
Week 23/37 – Road to Routeburn
Last week ended with my leg being “iffy”.
Mondays “run” cemented something was actually wrong. Tuesday the physio confirmed it *sigh*
Apparently though, if I follow directions (eg don’t run when I’m not supposed too) it should be a couple of week rehab (as opposed to a couple of months – or longer) so that news made me happy.
So this week, everyday I’ve done my physio exercises (at least twice a day) and I have walked to a random street pole that happens to be a flat 500m away from my house twice a day – except for the day that I went outdoor climbing – yeah, can’t run, but can apparently “kidn of” climb up a rock wall – go figure.
It has been awhile, so I was pretty rusty and quite tentative whenever it came to weighting my left leg – but I had a fabulous day and even managed to lead climb one of the easier walls (even after bailing on an easier lead earlier in the day) – I used my “running mantra” – not that I’ve ever used it while running, but coach said I should have one for when times get tough – and that lead climb – well that was tough ..
So – in short, I’ve done more climbing than running this week – but, I’ve done more walking and rehab exercises than both of those combined .. I’m a rehab machine. Here’s hoping when I go back to physio on Tuesday I get a gold star – although I’d settle for news that it looks like its healing well and you’ll be back up an running in a jiffy!
Keep your fingers crossed for me and if you are the praying type, I would say no to a few of those too.
Till next time
