This is the kind of Open WOD that I’ve been waiting for!

Apart from working out which weight plates you would require and the correct order to stack them in for the weight increases at each round this wasn’t a WOD that required any “advanced” skills.

Simply load the bar, pick up the bar, put it down again and do some box jumps. Simple!

Even though I did my deadlift strength session yesterday and was uber tight in the back last night I was still excited – FINALLY an Open WOD I could actually do! Yay!

Yesterday I stated my goal was to get 75+ reps

Boom! 105!

This morning Joe said he was betting on me to beat Anna in this WOD, because I’m short and don’t have to lift the bar as far (bahahahaha).

I said there was no way in hell I’d beat her considering her max deadlift is about 40 kgs over mine. Couple that with that fact the box sits at approximately her ankle height and the 10+ age difference and she had this one in the bag.

Anna killed it 130 reps .. only 25 reps more, I nearly had her 😉

I loved this WOD, I would actually do it again just because I enjoyed it. I doubt I could do any better and I also don’t think my heavy deadlift strength session the day before made much of a difference to the outcome. I think my score accurately reflects not just my best on the day, but probably my best on any given day.

If Mr Castro repeats any of this years WODs in next years Open season I really hope it’s this one.  I’d be curious to see how I’d do with a few strength cycles under my belt.

Till next time
