Run the Forest 2025

Last year this event was the very first event after I took up running.

I did the 10km in 2024 and this year I was stepping up to the half marathon because I’m a “seasoned” runner now lol.

I’ve got to say, getting to sit under heaters inside a building with access to hot coffee and flushing toilets was a HUGE improvement from standing in a field in the middle of the suburbs like the 10k participants have to. That alone makes running twice the distance and paying more worth it in my opinion. 😉

I also really enjoyed the course – I wasn’t a fan of running through the village on the 10km route – far too much concrete for my liking. Not that the start of the 21km was much better – I was surprised how long it took to get to a “proper trail”, but (to me at least) it seemed like less running on concrete than in the shorter distance. I also liked that I got to hang out with James prior to the start gun. He went in an earlier wave (because he’s much faster than I) so after he started, I didn’t see him until after I’d finished, but it was nice to have someone you knew to sit with.

Thankfully the amazing organisational skills that I raved about in 2024 were still on show. Everything ran like clockwork and the volunteers out on course are second to none. And don’t get me started on the finish line food vendors …

If the waffle cone caravan will be there in 2026 that alone will get me back!

Till next time
