I surrender

I’ve been in the UK for about a week and yes the first breakfast I had was porridge AND it was as good as I thought it was going to be. 😉

But I have to admit.  Eating clean is much much harder here than it was in LA.  You see living in someone elses home makes things a little more tricky.  Even after explaining that I need to eat a certain way (and buying all the groceries required to eat that way) every meal conversation goes a little something like this ..

“So I thought we would have steak can you eat steak?”

“Sure .. but can you grill it, or fry it without oil”

“I’ll fry it, so you want chips with that?”

“No thanks”

“Mashed potatoes?”

“No thank you, I don’t eat potatoes”

“So just bread and a bit of butter then I guess”

“Umm no .. no bread or butter”

“So WHAT can you eat?”

And yes I know all you bodybuilders out there have lived through the exact same conversations with your nearest and dearest I’ve just decided its not worth the aggravation especially when I’ve heard “but your on holiday” more than once 🙂

So I’ve given up .. I eat as cleanly as I can but am not obsessing.  I do cook my own breakfast and lunch so one meal out of five isn’t too bad .. but I can tell you my hips are expanding at a speed defying rate .. there shall be some serious training going on after this holiday to heal all this damage!

Exercise basically consists of running around the park and carrying the kids around.  I had organised a gym, but didn’t realise that I wouldn’t be able to drive our hire car .. and the only gym that allows for casuals to bowl in is on this town is on the other side of town .. the exercise gods are against me 😉

James has resorted to using the kids as sandbags and doing his own Ludus style workout ..

You know how Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz said “There is no place like home?” well I totally get what she was saying now ..

Till next time

Julia, Jolyon here. Just read this and Im not too impressed. No-one wanted you to come along (wonder why). We would love you to go home so that we can all enjoy James company without your oppresive dictating.

I never realised anyone could be so self centred and obsessed and think its more than a little freaky and not healthy for those poor children of yours. Think maybe you should work a little harder on getting a life instead of blogging about your weird f@)ked up hobby (by the way way it does not make you look any better)

Im think I am going to follow our blogg and share with all the people I know so that we can all laugh at your expence. Thank you for an ‘enlighting’ experience.

    Hi Julia

My name is Melanie and I for one would like to say that you are an inspiration me and I have followed your blog since it first started. I have even lost 26 kilos myself using you as a role model.

I’d like to say that your hobby is not weird or F up as the above poster said. It takes dedication and commitment of which you obviously have both as you juggle work, family and anyone who says different is the weird one.

Do not let idiots like the person above get you down 🙂

  5. Sarah says:

Julia you know we all love you and we would like you to come home too it sounds like the natives in the UK are as unenlightened as they come.

Don’t worry if you are self centered and obsessed I guess I am as well, since I enjoy your F**CKED up hobby just as much as you xx

I can’t believe the nerve of some people! Who do they think they are mouthing off like that!

I have never commented before, but have followed your blog with interest and use you as inspiration as I would like to compete one day. I will then be among the self obsessed people otherwise known as winners 🙂

  7. Amanda says:

Oh hun I pity you having people like that in your circle. I can see why you chose to stay away as I can’t imagine you keeping quiet if they had the balls to say things like that to your face. I hope James and his family appreciate the fact that you had the forethought to stay away rather than ruin the day arguing with such a nasty specimen of a human.

  8. Susan says:

Eating healthy and consciously, and taking care of one’s body, is not f**ked up. It’s inspiring. You’re amazing. Keep up the great work, Julia.

  9. Donloree says:

Julia I know that you are a champion. You are short but you stand heads taller above other women with your heart, dedication, and love. There is no place like home and I hope you know there are hundreds of us that would make our home your home for you in a heartbeat.

  10. Kari says:

I’ve always wondered why some people care about the eating habits of others? Is that dude’s life so utterly miserable that he has to focus on trying to make everyone else around him miserable? I pity people like that, and applaud you for doing what you can to stay true to YOU.

And really, what kind of person actually takes the time to say such nasty things to you on your blog?! I feel bad that you have to deal with someone so rude and inhospitable.

Keep your chin up and be proud of yourself! You’re an inspiration to others, and we’re all very proud of you! Big hugs!!

@Jolyon, get a life man and go get some help for your issues. Clearly you are lacking in all the positive qualities, inner and outer strengths that Julia (and James) has. You are a sad sad babymanchild ass clown! It’s too bad that your life is so bad that you need to start digging in someone else’s stuff and create drama because you haven’t had enough of your own. I feel badly for the next victim on your list. I can’t wait for Julia to get back to where she is loved and cared for. @Jolyon let me remind you, you’re an ass but you already know that!

  12. Tenecia says:

Jolyon – if you don’t understand the lifestyle of a competitor, that’s fine. If you don’t agree with how a competitor chooses to eat, that’s fine too. But acting like a complete d!ck, spewing insults, and being rude to Julia, that’s NOT fine.

Julia – there will always be haters, we know that. Ignore them & don’t let them get to you.

    Lots of love!

    T.

  13. Lisa says:

Julia you’re beautiful and a huge inspiration to so many. I’m sorry you have to deal with people like that in your life, it’s really ridiculous. He obviously does not understand the fitness/competition lifestyle, and no one says he has to. But there is no reason to be so mean and talk so badly of someone, for any reason. Don’t pay attention to him and know you are better than that. In every way.

  14. Julia

SO sorry you had to encounter this but People sometimes don’t understand. I hope you don’t take it to heart because its true, many people admire you and look up to you

We are all in this together

    xoxo

  15. Michelle says:

OMG! Huge hugs to you Julia. you are an inspiration and dont let this loon get you down!!!

  16. Tracy H says:

I seriously hope that comment was some sort of piss-take, ironic joke from a friend with a very weird sense of humor. If not, then bugger them. You don’t have to explain your lifestyle to anyone. We all “get you” and how you chose to exercise , eat and live your life. Your lucky husband and children, couldn’t wish for a better Mum and Wife! Go you!!

  17. Sam says:

I dont need to tell you that we all LOVE you….but we do. Please dont let some idiot with a small mind upset you. How incredibly rude and disrespectful to both you and James. You are a fantastic Mummy and your kids are gorgeous, and will grow up healthy and active, unlike a LOT of the children in the UK. Keep up your amazing work, you inspire us all lovely lady! x x x
