From Spartan to Warrior

It had been a FULL on week for me in the arena.

After Saturday’s early morning class I had completed 12 sessions at Ludus in a six day period which included a mini marathon of 4 sessions on Friday.

As we had organized (in the loosest sense of the word) a lunchtime bbq for a friend who road tripped up from Wellington on Friday I took an annual leave day and instead of chillaxing I smashed it up in the arena and then enjoyed a guilt free nosh up and since TK is a trained chef his pumpkin soup was to die for and you OBVIOUSLY require freshly baked white bread to dunk in soup. 😉

Needless to say the body is a little worse for wear after all those beatings and tight everything is tight!

So when our pre brunch crazy expedition started from lululemon in Ponsonby AND they happened to be holding a free yoga class at the same venue at the same time, I jumped at the chance to try out Yoga while the rest of the expeditioners ran on a chilly Auckland morning.

I’m reasonably flexible but I don’t stretch anywhere near enough with all the training I do so an enforced stretching session is probably a god send for someone like me.

Dana took the class, she is the same Yoga instructor who runs the Ludus Yoga sessions and she’s got a rockin bod! Heck if I can look like that by doing Yoga .. sign me up!

Anyway the class was pretty full at least 30 people were there and everything was provided although I took a towel. We (Yumes, Amy, Iz and I) grabbed a spot in the back row and then got our Yoga on.

All in all I really liked it. Warrior 1 & 2 killed my quads and I really had to concentrate on my breathing in Warrior 3 BUT I did manage to do the linkey arm thing (although I did need Amy to yell out which arm to reach through) 😉

"

Obviously that is not me though I did not do topless yoga 🙂  The only part I was a bit ho hum with was when right at the end you lie down and reflect – my mind is too busy to reflect, mostly I was reflecting on what I was going to have at brunch which bought on reflecting on if we were nearly finished reflecting so I could go and eat. 😉

One thing I did love was when we bought our hands together at the end and put them at the head, heart and mouth and Dana said a wee quip at each point – my fav = speak only kind words.

I think its the perfect way to end a week of beating up your body and I will be adding Sunday yoga into the weekly routine.

Tomorrow I take on the Ludus Marathon (yes again) but more on that later.

Namaste

I don’t know if this is true or not but you seem so much more joyful now that you aren’t competing in bodybuilding. Maybe its because you aren’t hungry all the time :P. Anyway rock on!

Well I can confirm I do prefer not being hungry all the time 😉
