I surrender

I’ve been in the UK for about a week and yes the first breakfast I had was porridge AND it was as good as I thought it was going to be. 😉

But I have to admit.  Eating clean is much much harder here than it was in LA.  You see living in someone elses home makes things a little more tricky.  Even after explaining that I need to eat a certain way (and buying all the groceries required to eat that way) every meal conversation goes a little something like this ..

“So I thought we would have steak can you eat steak?”

“Sure .. but can you grill it, or fry it without oil”

“I’ll fry it, so you want chips with that?”

“No thanks”

“Mashed potatoes?”

“No thank you, I don’t eat potatoes”

“So just bread and a bit of butter then I guess”

“Umm no .. no bread or butter”

“So WHAT can you eat?”

And yes I know all you bodybuilders out there have lived through the exact same conversations with your nearest and dearest I’ve just decided its not worth the aggravation especially when I’ve heard “but your on holiday” more than once 🙂

So I’ve given up .. I eat as cleanly as I can but am not obsessing.  I do cook my own breakfast and lunch so one meal out of five isn’t too bad .. but I can tell you my hips are expanding at a speed defying rate .. there shall be some serious training going on after this holiday to heal all this damage!

Exercise basically consists of running around the park and carrying the kids around.  I had organised a gym, but didn’t realise that I wouldn’t be able to drive our hire car .. and the only gym that allows for casuals to bowl in is on this town is on the other side of town .. the exercise gods are against me 😉

James has resorted to using the kids as sandbags and doing his own Ludus style workout ..

You know how Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz said “There is no place like home?” well I totally get what she was saying now ..

Till next time
