GETTING LOST (AGAIN)
Week 20/37 – Road to Routeburn 2025
Just quickly – I’ve just noticed I’m over half way! I’ve officially been training towards the Routeburn Challenge in April next year for longer than the time I have left – which is both astonishing and somewhat scary.
Do I think I’m ready? Nope
Do I think that I’ll ever think I’m ready? Honestly? Probably not. But then again, I have a tendency to just go and “wing things” and it hasn’t let me down so far – at least this time I’ve put some actual effort into it.
So training this week.
Three run sessions, two I did in Riverhead (where I got lost repeatedly) and the other I did at one of my usual trails (so didn’t get lost) – I did manage to run the entire session non stop which I haven’t done in awhile because I often walk two of the hills on the trail.
I also had two weight sessions and a 7km walk (which I lengthened as we went out to Hunua and I had an option of a 6km loop or an 8km one) – obviously I decided to go further as I went out with James and he had a much longer session that I did – so the extra km filled in some time. I managed not to get lost but James did, so perhaps in runs in the family. 😉
Next week training ramps back up which I’m quite excited about – it seems like we’ve been taking it easy ever since I finished half marathon number one and Routeburn looms closer and closer by the day!
Till next time
