A RUNNER WHO DOESN’T RUN
Weeks 26-27 – Road to Routeburn

I’m only 2 weeks out from Tarawera and 10 weeks from Routeburn and I still can’t run.
I’m getting there though, the leg definately hurts less and I’ve managed to do a bit of running at the end of some training sessions without too much drama so I’m not SUPER worried, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned.
Tarawera should be fine – I’m 99% certain I’ll be fine walking it – I can probably even throw in a bit of running so I won’t be out there all day, but Routeburn is going to take some grit – although my walking speed has increased, so there is that ..
On a positive note, I’ve found more time for climbing and Coach put bike rides onto my training roster – it’s been ages since I’ve been on the bike (which my arse can attest too) and my lungs were dying, but it was great to be back out on it and I’m excited to venture out more often.
So in short – two weeks with no running for someone who is training for two running events ..
Eeek!
Till next time
