Lower Nihotupu Dam Road, Huia Regional Park (Closed due to Kauri Die Back)
Walking Track – This is a section of private Watercare Services road open to pedestrian public. It runs from the Pipeline Track to the Hamilton Track, 1.3km. (Source).
Wide, compacted dirt (private) road which is used as a connector between the Pipeline Track and Hamilton Track for those traversing the Hillary Trail.
From the Pipeline Track the section of Lower Nihotupu Dam Road that is open to the public is on your right. It starts out flat but (as is par for trails in the Waitakere Ranges) after passing by the Incline Track it climbs steadily and then rather steeply until it reaches a dead end (at the sealed Pipeline).
Hamilton Track is located on the right.

Location – The closest entrance would be from the Visitor Centre on Scenic Drive.
Parking – Yes
Toilets – Yes
Kid Friendly – Logistically I’d say no especially as it’s just a road (eg boring) – stick to the trails closer to the Visitor Centre.
