Week 21/37 – Road to Routeburn 2025
Things are ramping up training wise, this week I completed my first scheduled back to back session with a 90 minute hike on Friday which was followed up with a 2.5 hour run (with the goal of +400 vert) on Saturday and rounded off with a short 30 minute session on Sunday.
Sweet as ..
I’ll admit, Saturday was much harder than I thought it would be – I felt slow (although my stats didn’t correspond with how slow I thought I was moving) lol .. so I just felt slow, rather than actually being slow. I stretched and rolled a lot and got a decent sleep, so thankfully the super short session on the Sunday was actually quite nice – apart from getting cut up by the cutty grass as I bushed whacked along a trail .. *sigh*
Oh and I did an entire session on a treadmill this week!
Crazy right? What would have made me do that? Well in short .. thunder and lightning – needs must and all that.
On a positive, it was good to see I can actually run without stopping for 40 minutes on a treadmill when I have too – my previous record was probably 3 minutes max.
Next week it’s Christmas – I’ll be running a hill pyramid – joy to the world. 😉
Total mileage this week 28.5km (running) 8.69km (hiking)
