The kiwi spirit

Yesterday two different people on opposite sides of the world asked me exactly the same question …

When the first person asked me I nearly choked on my water I thought it was so funny, when the second person asked me the same thing I thought .. do I really make it sound so easy?  Maybe I am candy coating and leaving out all the bits that are not pleasant?

Believe me (and if you don’t believe me, ask my husband) .. there are days where I find it hard .. very hard!  Seven weeks out, I still have more days that are good, than those that are hard .. but as I get closer to my competition date, the hard days get harder and they come more often and there are usually tears and tantrums.  Imagine a three year old not getting what they want and that is what I become 😉

No doubt there will be tears

I will admit however, I am a very “just get on with the job” kind of girl .. I figure it has something to do with being a Kiwi .. we are all like that.

So when I enlightened them both that yes, I am human … one came back with another question.

This was a no brainer!  Definately the food!

I am a true blue Maori girl.  I have been bought up on meat, potatoes, tomato sauce and white bread and to top it off I have two toddlers and married a man who has been blessed with good genetics and a speedy metabolism.  All three of them eat lots and lots of things I want!  (Especially those pink biscuits with the sprinkles .. man they look good!) 😉

Pink with sprinkles .. thats my kind of biscuit!

Thankfully my meals are only a couple of hours apart, because I have to talk myself out of eating something “off plan” at least 5 times a day!  I just try and keep busy, usually reorganizing cupboards and rooms.  James said I’m worse now than when I was nesting during my pregnancy, although at least now I can move the furniture on my own.

Finally I was asked this …

I think Stephen Covey says it best in the following quote

“Motivation is a fire from within. If someone else tries to light that fire under you, chances are it will burn very briefly.”

In short you have to want something .. really want it!

Don’t look at someone and think “Oh but they have great genetics, they can eat what they want” or “But they don’t have kids, they have so much more time than I do” they are all just excuses that stand in the way of you getting to what you want.

If it was easy .. everyone would look like a figure competitor!  Quite simply, its not easy … nothing worth having is!

Get up .. go out and get it!

Till next time
