Teaching old tricks to an old dog

Getting back into competition mode isn’t as easy as flicking the switch.

I’ve had five weeks out of my normal routine, four weeks on the other side of the world and one week back at home trying to get things back to some form of semblance of normal.

Today was D Day, the day that I had decided was my line in the sand and the day where no matter what I was starting competition prep whether I was ready or not. 😉

Yesterday I packed my gym bag, I organised my food and I set my alarm for stupid oclock and had a “farewell convenience food dinner”

I did good and bad .. I got up and did cardio, but didn’t get up early enough to get to Ludus thanks to my car being stuck in the mud outside our house and having to unpack my car and steal the beast (the Landrover) so I could get to work.

So I did my cardio around Parnell and my food was “on point” (a phrase my friend Tenecia uses often) after work I went to the gym and did my weight training.  I wasn’t looking forward to it because ..

  1. It was going to hurt
  2. I was going to be so weak.

Both points turned out to be true, but I guess everyone has to start somewhere.

So I’m counting down the next 14 days.  It takes 2 weeks for something to become a habit, I know I’m going to find these next two weeks super hard because my body is used to lying around doing nothing eating loads of sugar, so I have to retrain not only my body .. but my mind.

Bring it on ..

Till next time

I am so glad you’re getting back into it. Isn’t the mind the hardest part? Heck, I haven’t even had a 5 week holiday and I am in your boat this week! Mud will not phase us! I can’t wait to read the blog about the first Ludus, aka near death, experience after vacation. 🙂
